Cinderella And Rockerfeller

The year 5 production "Cinderella and Rockerfeller" went down a storm with parents, staff and children. This production boasted great singing and fantastic acting and proved to be one of the best productions Fryern has produced. "Broadway here we come!" said one year 5 pupil.

Robots Run Wild At Fryern

Well, they weren't running wild but there were plenty of fantastic robots produced at home for the year 3/4 home learning project. The children obviously worked hard to produce their robots as the quality was outstanding. Thank you to everyone who supported their children with this task.

Sparsholt Visit

On a very cold day in November, year 3/4 visited Sparsholt. The children studied different properties of rocks and soils and had fun digging up samples from the cold, hard ground. They then visited the pigs and learnt how to recycle the waste from their lunch boxes to round off a fun and educational visit.

A Visit From The Twits

Our very talented teachers, Mr Firkin and Mr Smith visited the school in the form of Mr and Mrs Twit. Looking fabulous and sporting a long, black beard covered in cereal, worms and fish bones, Mr Twit made us laugh with his obviously talented acting skills! The shrieking voice of Mrs Twit, telling off Mr Twit for his appalling antics was the highlight of the show. The children enjoyed the Twits and created some excellent writing following the show.

Bags of Fun

Year 3/4 designed different bags for different purposes, such as carrying something heavy or holding a gift, to lauch our new topic "material world". We had great fun creating the bags. The finished products were bright, colourful, practical and successful.

Mad Scientists

Year 6 arrived in school this Monday looking very strange indeed. Mad hair, white coats, big glasses, anyone would have thought it was 'mad scientist day'! During the day we explored electricity, separating materials and chemical reactions. It was great fun and at times fairly explosive.

Mask Mania

The homework project for the year 5 Greek topic was to make a Greek theatre mask. The children were allowed to use any media and method of their choice and were encouraged to be as creative as possible. The results were truly stunning as you can see from the slideshow.

Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes...

Our year 5 children had a health road show on Monday 3rd November 2008. They started the day with invigorating aerobics to get the mind and body awake. They then went on to complete a sponsored fun run. The money raised from this will be spent on health resources for the school. Finally the children took part in an exciting range of activities including, exotic fruit tasting, naming weird vegetables, fitness tests and pulse investigations. It was a fantastic day and a very motivational way to start our new topic.

Great Grandparents....

Year 5 planned and performed a fabulous collection of songs, plays and poems all about World War 2 to their grandparents and great grandparents. It was a tremendous event where the grandparents and children learnt from each other.

Wild Workshops....

We attended exciting art workshops as part of our theme week on the environment. This is part of our Rights, Respects, Responsibilities (RRR)work this year. We are pleased with our vivid and striking creations.
