Surrounded by cold, nothing could stop the children from getting out into the snow for a well earned break. Target practice, snow rolling and snowman building were just a few of the activities. Even the adults had fun before getting too cold and having to come back indoors.

Creature Comforts
Year 5 enjoyed a range of environmental studies and fun. We made shelters, acted like foxes and birds and luckily avoided predators! We also met some guests in our mammal hotels, including voles and long tailed field mice.

Sparsholt Visit
On a very cold day in November, year 3/4 visited Sparsholt. The children studied different properties of rocks and soils and had fun digging up samples from the cold, hard ground. They then visited the pigs and learnt how to recycle the waste from their lunch boxes to round off a fun and educational visit.

Great Grandparents....
Year 5 planned and performed a fabulous collection of songs, plays and poems all about World War 2 to their grandparents and great grandparents. It was a tremendous event where the grandparents and children learnt from each other.

Castle Mania...
We (Year 5) have recently had a visit from a famous author - Colin Thompson. He came into school and told us how he came to be an author and how many books he has had published. His best tip was to take a normal scenario and then to make something out of the ordinary happen. Other schools from the local area also joined the afternoon at Fryern and we were all given the chance to have books signed by Mr Thompson at the end of the day. Our favourite book was "Castles". (Written by Year 5 pupil)
Up Up and Away....
The athletics club have been practicing different events for an indoor athletics competition at Toynbee School and found that hard work pays in the end. The team won many events including mixed relay and girls javelin. Well done to those involved and well done to all those who have attended athletics club this year.

Easter Story
Year 6 have had some "hands on" learning at Chandlers Ford Methodist Church learning all about the Easter Story. Going back in time, they met and interviewed some important people from the time of Jesus including Joseph of Arimathia, Mary Magdalene and the pupils' favourite, a Roman soldier.
