Madam Mayor
The year 6 children were invited to visit the Madam Mayor's Chambers on her last day in office, last week. The children were all asked to sit around the chamber where they could use the speaker system to ask questions. Some lucky children even dressed up in the Mayor's robes.
On our travels
The hook day to start our new unit was based upon World War 2. Children dressed up as evacuees, packed their suitcases, took their gas mask and boarded the train ready to start a new life in the country. Don't they look great?

More Mad Scientists
This week year 5 and year 6 had a MAD scientists day where the children tried to blow up the school with an antacid tablet and some coke. The children, since then, have been learning about how solids, liquids and gases are linked through the water cycle.
Snow Snow Snow...
Surrounded by cold, nothing could stop the children from getting out into the snow for a well earned break. Target practice, snow rolling and snowman building were just a few of the activities. Even the adults had fun before getting too cold and having to come back indoors.

Countdown to Christmas
3, 2, 1. Gone.
For the pupils and staff of Fryern Junior School, this half term has flown by. Doesn't time go quickly when you're having fun?!
Year 3/4 celebrated the end of term and the Christmas season with a fantastic production, with some very talented children shining like the good star of Bethlehem itself.

Ahoy there!
For the year 3/4 home learning project, the pupils had to design and then build a boat out of any materials with a criteria that the boat must float. The children came up with some fantastic designs and the finished boats floated superbly.

A Fairytale Ending!
What a challenge! Year 3 and 4 decided to create a stunning performance in only a day. They had great fun acting, dressing up and improvising. The children loved it too! The story was a journey made by Shrek through a land of fairytales mixed up by the Evil Queen. Enjoy the photos to see the fun we all had.
We'll Meet Again
The year 5 children were transported back to London in 1939 with the Rainbow Theatre Company. They were evacuated to the country where they were met by a billeting officer and sent to their new homes. Every child was then involved in different war scenes and the workshop ended with peace being declared and everyone dancing The Lambeth Walk.
Creature Comforts
Year 5 enjoyed a range of environmental studies and fun. We made shelters, acted like foxes and birds and luckily avoided predators! We also met some guests in our mammal hotels, including voles and long tailed field mice.

Also, we have been learning about flowering plants and seed dispersal. Everyone in year 5 is looking forward to showing all of our learning on this topic in an assembly this Friday, 9th January. Photo's to follow.
